House Construction for the Poor

Food, clothing, and shelter are the three most fundamental requirements. Approximately 17% of the overall population still lives under the extreme poverty threshold. Most people do not have a minimum sheltering status in the third option of their need. The nation has achieved the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) targets, and afterward, it has been going with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). Making the issue a priority, the Bangladesh government has already begun to address the housing scarcity among the ultra-poor with the help of non-governmental organizations (NGOs). As part of the Bangladesh government’s critical issue, Sangram has begun housing initiatives in its working region, prioritizing Patuakhali, Barguna, Perojpur, and Bhola districts, which were severely hit by natural disasters such as Sidr-07, AILA, MOHASEN, and others. The housing activities of Sangram, in brief, are mentioned below:

Objectives

  1. To enhance shelter arrangements at poor and ultra-poor levels.
  2. To enhance household resilience at poor and ultra-poor levels against different disasters.
